Family office capital backed a wide range of deals in recent weeks, from a Kazakhstan green energy partnership to synthetic aviation fuel, geothermal drilling, textile recycling and a $400 million real estate commitment.
Aug 5 — Full Vision Capital, the family office of Henderson Land Development co-chairman Peter Lee Ka-kit, signed a memorandum of understanding with Kazakh authorities to advance green energy projects, including sustainable aviation fuel, smart energy and advanced storage. Lee said he was honored to partner with the Kazakh government on Alatau City’s green transformation, following a meeting with Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. (South China Morning Post)
July 31 — Lincoln Property Company, a Dallas-based global real estate firm, announced a $400 million real estate investment program led by commitments from HF Capital, which invests on behalf of the Haslam family, founders of Pilot Travel Centers, and SGF Capital, the single-family office of Autry C. Stephens, founder of Endeavor Energy Resources. July 30 — Lydian, a Boston-based synthetic aviation fuel company, raised $43 million in a Series A led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures, with participation from AP Ventures and Builders Vision, the investment platform of Lukas Walton, along with existing investors Congruent Ventures, Galvanize, Grok Ventures, Overture, Union Square Ventures and Voyager Ventures. CEO Joe Rodden said the financing will support the launch of PIVOT, the company’s platform for cost-competitive synthetic fuel at commercial scale. (PR Newswire)
July 20 — Syntetica, a French deeptech company recycling complex textile waste, raised $30 million in a Series A led by Bpifrance’s Ecotechnologies 2 fund, with participation from lululemon, MAS Holdings, existing investor EQT Ventures, and the family offices of the Peugeot family, the Etam family and Indorama Ventures’ largest shareholder. July 9 — Hephae Energy Technology, a Texas-based high-temperature geothermal drilling startup, raised $17.8 million in a Series A co-led by Susquehanna Sustainable Investments and Underground Ventures. Participating investors included Centaurus Capital, the family office of John Arnold, and Exa Ventures, the family office of Chris Anderson, alongside Elemental Impact, Future Ventures and the Grantham Foundation. CEO Steve Krase said the company’s drilling technology withstands temperatures up to 210 degrees Celsius, reaching rock formations competitors can’t. (Axios)
