Family office capital moved across borders and asset classes in recent weeks, backing a Belgian chipmaker’s growth financing, a Hamburg-based software acquirer’s capital raise and the sale of a national mortgage banking firm.
July 8 — e-peas, a Belgian maker of ultra-low-power energy-harvesting chips, secured $22 million in financing led by Crédit Mutuel Innovation, with participation from SFPIM, the Belgian federal fund, and historical investors including the European Innovation Council, Wallonie Entreprendre, KBC Focus Fund, Otium — the single-family office of French entrepreneur Pierre-Édouard Stérin, founder of Smartbox — Nomainvest, The Faktory and Invest BW. CEO Geoffroy Gosset said the investment will let e-peas scale its commercial activities and expand into new energy-autonomous applications. (e-peas)
July 22 — CHAPTERS Group AG, a Hamburg-based acquirer of software companies, raised approximately €64 million in a capital increase, issuing 1,521,938 new shares at €42.00 each. The round was backed by four of the company’s largest long-term shareholders, including Mitch Rales, Sator Grove Holdings and Stravaigin, the family office of Spotify co-founder Daniel Ek. July 23 — White & Case advised BWE, a national commercial and multifamily mortgage banking company, on its agreement to sell a majority interest to Bayview MSR Opportunity (US) Master Fund and Springmont Capital, the private investment office of the Morgan Family, owners of Morgan Properties.
