Family Office Interest in Private Equity Grows

Private equity is becoming a key part of family offices’ investment strategies, according to a recent report, Family Offices and the Future of Private Markets.

The report, produced by Bastiat Partners and Kharis Capital, includes data from a survey of over 75 global family offices. It found that about 40% of survey respondents plan to increase their allocations to private equity in the next two years. Half of respondents said they will increase their direct investments, as well.

The survey also asked about governance structures for family offices: It found that about 36% of family offices have an investment committee, 18% have a board of directors and 22% have both. Among North American respondents, over half said their family office has an investment committee.

The report was covered by CNBC: Family Offices Becoming ‘Economic Powerhouse’ in Private Company Deals.
