The University of Chicago Booth School of Business is starting a Family Office Initiative that will promote research, education and networking related to family offices.
“The boom in family offices across the world has highlighted a need for education and collaboration opportunities among principals and practitioners,” said Madhav Rajan, Booth dean and the George Pratt Shultz Professor of Accounting, in a statement.
The initiative highlights the University of Chicago’s connection to family office history: The university was founded by John D. Rockefeller, who was also a pioneer in the single-family office arena.
In starting the program, the university has several aims:
- Support faculty research on the family office sector
- Offer MBA students a course on family offices, with additional MBA and executive education courses planned for the future
- Create opportunities for networking among family office leaders
